Recent Gun Show buys......

Well guys, I made a decent deal this past weekend. Added 3 more arms to the growing collection.

I bought (2) two M48 (K98) Yugoslavian Mausers for $155 early before the show started (had a dealer's pass from a buddy).

Here's a representative picture :

Mine have been altered to be sporters with some of the front stock removed and no rings but the actions are good.

And........(drum roll)........I picked up this Bad Boy as well - PPS-43 (Russian) and it shoots 7.62x25

ON a side note I picked up several AK mags, too.

A guy was selling 'em 4 for $50 including carrying pouch.

Complete Semi-Auto.........however, I do plan to buy a 'kit' for extra mags and parts. The total was $752 and I talked the dealer into throwing in an extra mag (35-rounds).

Is this the pistol model with the folding stock tack welded shut or the rifle model with the extended 16" barrel?

My father just had his PPSH-41 finished. It's pretty cool. It has the original length barrel shroud and a barrel extension. I haven't seen any built like it yet, most manufacturer's are extending the shrouds.

Huge plus side to these is the mags, drums, and ammo are still cheap for both models - 43 and 41. Not sure if the drums fit in a 43. The Russians decided the stick mags were better anyways towards the end of the war. I imagine loading a 71 round drum magazine at 20 below zero, with gloves on, with Germans firing at you was quite a task.

Let us know how it shoots! I'm interested in a 43 or the Suomi 9mm copy, kp-44 I think.

Dang, you've got all kinds of fun toys! I've got a beat up VZ24 mauser and a really nice Turkish one also. Fun guns to shoot and, other than the Mosins out there, can't be beat for the price.

Drums won't fit - in fact nothing from the 41 fits the 43 according to my research. Nice 41. I'll be sure to post a range report after breakin' her in. :ok:

Yeah, I'm going broke buying toys for fear that one day I won't be able to anymore. :bear_angry:
I did manage to sell a couple of guns at the show ~ so it's more like a 'trade' to me.

Nothing wrong with MAUSER's - one of the best deals for the $$$ IMO. Those 8mm rounds are deadly too and wreck all sorts of damage to your target(s).

Ahh, I see. Only the Suomi m44 and m31 interchange drums/mags.

Military gun supply has the 36 round stick mags available for $8.95 here. They're a pretty good place to deal with. They probably built your 43.

Yep, I bought mine straight from MGS (dealt with Jerry) http://www.militarygunsupply.com/shop2/ at the show. These semi's are made by SMG (Smith Manuf. Group) out of Decatur, TX. Nice little acronym there, huh ?

I'll be buying more mags as soon as I test the 43 out at the range.
